Tune: Cantad al Senor
Scripture: Luke 1:46-55
1. My soul magnifies my God and my true Lord,
my Savior, my joy, by my spirit adored!
He looks upon me, though servant most lowly,
with favor and grace. Oh, praise God most holy!
2. Now all generations shall call me blessed.
Great things God has done for me: I confess it!
Almighty and holy, to all who fear him,
his mercy he grants, to draw them near him.
3. But his mighty arm refuses and scatters
the haughty and vain, the proud and their matters.
The high and the mighty, God shall dethrone,
but lift up the poor and needy alone.
4. The hungry are fed from God's hand, with his bread;
but he sends awy the fortunate, unfed.
He helps Israel, his servant of old,
for his promised mercy now shall unfold.
5. To forefathers, Abraham, and to his seed,
God promises help and mercy in their need.
Give glory, therefore, to Father and Son,
and to Holy Spirit, while ages run!
This hymn paraphrase of the Magnificat
