Hymn Text

1 “Here, behold, the Lamb of God, him who frees the world from sin,”
Said the Baptist to his friends, when the Lord had come to him.
Baptized at the river shore, Jesus had so long before
been revealed as God's own Son, with the Father he was One.

2 John bore witness to his God, maker of all things that are.
With the Creator was the Word, God eternal from the start.
That Word was Himself divine, Lord of lords beyond all time.
All the things within this world, come from his creation.

3 John baptized in earth’s wet flow; Christ christens with heaven’s fire.
One plunged sinners deep below; Jesus takes us higher and higher.
John got us to turn and see God's own Spirit rest so free,
On the Father’s chosen One, his Beloved, God's own Son!

4 Would you turn and follow Him to the end of all your days,
Making life a living hymn—every breath a note of praise?
If you will, then you will know, to that place we all shall go.
He for us prepared a place, living in the Lamb’s embrace.
