Introduction to the Four Gospels (Leader)
Introduction to the Four Gospels
A Nine Session Bible Study on Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John
Leader's Guide by the Rev Dr. John King
Based on the study written by the Rev. Dr. Dan Lioy
This “Introduction to the Four Gospels” by Professor Dan Lioy, is a nine-session Bible Study series explores the first four books of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Though we hear bits and pieces of the Gospels every Sunday, we don't often have the chance to look at the books as a whole, comparing their similarities and differences. One of the main threads pursued throughout this study is how each Gospel presents and describes the Kingdom of God. Not only was the Kingdom a central theme in Jesus’ teaching, it was at the center of his proclamation: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). The study explores what the Lord’s promise means in our own lives of faith as modern-day followers of Jesus.
This study is part of Sola Publishing's "Digging Deeper" Series, and is written at an intermediate level. It has a more academic style that includes more commentary from the author and fewer questions than other Sola Publishing Bible studies. It’s designed to be led by a lay leader or pastor, and assumes the participant has read the chapter prior to meeting as a group.
