Letters of Encouragement: Thessalonians (Leader)
Letters of Encouragement
A Bible Study on Paul's Letters to the Thessalonians
Leader's Guide, written by the Rev. Drs. John and Steven King
(Based on the Bible Study by Bishop John Beem)
In his letters to the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul commended the faith of the believers in their labors of love and encouraged them to imitate Christ. Acknowledging the difficulties that can exist in sharing the gospel, Paul reminded them that even though persecution often follows faithful proclamation, they needed to hold fast to the promise of Christ and not give up their mission. The apostle assured the Thessalonian Christians that all of the suffering he, Silas, and Timothy had endured had been worth it. To see the new Christians growing in God’s mercy and grace was a dream come true for them. Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians are filled with hope and encouragement — not just for the original audience, but for believers who have read them ever since.
This study is part of Sola Publishing's "Digging Deeper" Series, and is written at an intermediate level. It has a more academic style that includes more commentary from the author examining the Greek vocabulary of the biblical text. It’s designed to be led by a lay leader or pastor, and assumes the participant has read the chapter prior to meeting as a group.
