Unit 2 Lesson 8 Old Testament
Swords into Plowshares
Theme: Peace
Biblical Basis Micah 4:1-7
The Prophet Micah foretold of the great day when God himself would come to establish his kingdom of peace among the nations. In that day, he said “they will beat their spears into pruning hooks and their swords into plowshares” — ending the economy of war forever.
Additional Text: 1 Peter 2:4-10
Lesson Prayer
God of all hope and peace, you have announced repeatedly through your prophets that there will be a day when we will all stand before you and have to account for our words and actions. Grant that, by faith, we would cling to Jesus and rely on his promises to take away all our sin. We give you thanks that you sent your Son to be our Savior and to grant us his holiness and new life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Memory Verse
“They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Micah 4:3)
