Esther Becomes Queen

Biblical Basis • Esther 2:5-17a

Vashti, the previous queen of Persia, had been dismissed for her prideful attitude. A call was made for young women to come to palace, to see who would be chosen as the new queen. A young Jewish woman named Esther demonstrated her humility and grace.

Lesson Prayer

Lord God, source of love, we thank you for coming into our lives and claiming us as your own. Lead us in lives of respect and humility, that we may bring honor to your glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Creative Idea for the Week

Building Relationships:  Mordecai took responsibility for raising his cousin Esther in faith and for helping to keep her in a relationship with God. Each of us has responsibility to pass on the faith to the next generation -- whether we are parents or not.  In your role as a Sunday School teacher, keep in mind that teaching the faith is not just about imparting information, it is also about building relationships with students.  Here are some ideas to put into practice:
