Common Sense Wisdom

Theme: Wisdom

Biblical Basis • Proverbs 1:1-19

All of Scripture is given to “make us wise for salvation” (2 Tim. 3:15). But there are a number of books in Scripture specifically dedicated to passing on words of wisdom. One of these is the Book of Proverbs, which contains common sense advice for daily living.

Additional Text: 1 Corinthians 1:20-25

Lesson Prayer

Lord God, source of all wisdom, from you all good things come. Thank you for teaching and guiding us by your Word. Give us your Holy Spirit so that we may trust in you and live lives of obedience, by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Memory Verse

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

Creative Idea for the Week

Repetition, Repetition, Repetition: One of the ways in which children learn is by repeating the key points of a story over and over, but restating them in different ways. Asking them to retell the story is also a great way to know they are learning and retaining the information. Review questions from past lessons are always appropriate material to be brought up again.
