Unit 2 Lesson 8 Old Testament
Nebuchadnezzar's Dream
Theme: Destruction
Biblical Basis Daniel 2:26-47
Daniel was one of the young nobles that had been carried off into exile in the time of Nebuchadnzzar, king of Babylon. Though Daniel was trained and educated in the court of the king, he never gave up his faith in the one true God.
Additional Text: Luke 20:17-18
Lesson Prayer
Lord God, you alone reveal the truth. We thank you for speaking to us your Word. Help us bring to you all our questions and doubts, that we may be guided by your own Spirit. In all things, bring us to a deeper trust in you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Memory Verse
Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar: “God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.” (Daniel 2:45b)
Creative Idea for the Week
The Quiet Ones: Oftentimes there is a student who is quiet and doesn't like to speak in front of the whole class. One way to engage that child is to simply ask them what they think about something. Use open ended questions rather than yes or no questions. They may prefer to write an answer on the chalk board on a big pad of paper rather than answer out loud. Tell kids they can always "pass" if they don't want to speak, but it's important to listen and pay attention.
