Rededication of the Temple

Biblical Basis • Ezra 3:1-13
When King Cyrus came to power in Persia, he allowed the exiled Jews to return to their homeland and restore their nation. The Book of Ezra tells the story of how the temple was rededicated and worship of the Lord was reestablished in Jerusalem.

Faithful Lord, we are happy to worship you and give you praise. Thank you for giving us a community of faith where we can come together. Help us to listen to your Word and trust in your promise, that we may go forth to serve you in our daily lives. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Creative Idea for the Week
The Importance of Worship: Are there students in your class that you rarely (or never) see in worship? Today's story on the rebuilding of the temple demonstrates how important worship was and is to God's people. Some kids may be unfamiliar with what worship is all about. Talk openly about the things you like in worship and the things we do during a worship service. Help students to be "evangelist" in their family by encouraging their family to attend services and be a part of the congregation's worship.
