Bonus: Zechariah and Elizabeth

Biblical Basis: Luke 1:5-23, 57-66

Zechariah and Elizabeth were an older couple who had no children. One day, when Zechariah was serving at the Temple in Jerusalem, God sent an angel to tell Zechariah that he and his wife would soon have a child. That child later grew up to be the man we know as John the Baptist.

Lesson Prayer:

Almighty God, you are the giver of all good things. Help us to be thankful for our many blessings, and to trust you in all areas of our lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Memory Verse:

The angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. “ (Luke 1:13)

Creative Idea for the Week:

Many congregations spend Sunday School time in the weeks leading up to Christmas in the rehearsal and performance of an annual Christmas Program. But every congregation is different. This bonus lesson on the Christmas Story is meant to be used wherever it fits best into the local Church's calendar.
