Faith Webbing (Children and Youth Ministry)
Faith Webbing: Wrapping Children and Youth in a Web of Faith
by Gary and Laurie Pecuch
It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child. From a spiritual viewpoint, it takes a congregation. That means we need a faith family in which members have an understanding of their parts in passing on the faith to our young people. Faith webbing attempts to help all members of the congregation to fill the relationship voids in each others's lives. Our vision is to wrap our children and youth in a web of faith so loving and caring that they will know Jesus and always want to be a part of a local congregation!
Faith Webbing is a deep, purposeful intergenerational approach to connecting youth to faith through a congregation. Its premise is to intentionally identify relationship voids in young peoples’ lives and then to fill those voids with members from within the congregation. For some youth, there might not be a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, older sibling, or younger sibling in their life. With Faith Webbing, youth develop scores of long-term surrogate church family relationships of all ages.
